چکیده

For the first forbidden unique (1u) radiative electron-capture b decay of Ca, a contribution of the g/b detour transitions via virtual nuclear states to the bremsstrahlung spectrum has been considered in terms of the shell model. Calculations of the matrix elements for the virtual E1 g and allowed Gamow-Teller b transitions have been performed with the use of the Warburton, Becker, Millener, and Brown interactions. For the effective charge, which describes the contribution of the detour transitions, an interval 0.96,eeff,1 has been found. The model predictions are fairly close to the experimental value eeff50.78. A possible origin of the small remaining deviation is discussed.

مطالعه دینامیک آبشاری اتم کائونیک نیتروژن به روش مونت کارلو

Cascade dynamics of kaonic nitrogen atom (K-N) in a gaseous target was simulated using a simple model. In this model the radiative transitions, internal Auger, K-electron refilling, nuclear absorption, and kaon decay processes were included. The effect of the K-electron refilling process on some of quantities of cascade dynamics such as X-ray yields, the averaged K-electron shell number, fract...

Quantum interference between nuclear excitation by electron capture and radiative recombination

Experimental observations of atomic physics processes with regard to the internal structure of the nucleus have been reported, such as the bound-state internal conversion [1] and the nuclear excitation by electron transition (NEET) [2]. Closely related to NEET is the nuclear excitation by electron capture (NEEC). It is a resonant process in which a free electron is captured into an atomic shell...

Kα1 decay of helium–like uranium ions following radiative electron capture

Studies of the charge transfer in relativistic ion–atom collisions have a long tradition at the GSI storage ring [1]. In the radiative electron capture (REC), for example, a free (or quasi–free) electron is captured into a bound state of the projectile ion, accompanied by the simultaneous emission of a recombination photon. The angular and polarization properties of such photons have been explo...

Plasma cutoff and enhancement of radiative transitions in dense stellar matter

We study plasma effects on radiative transitions (e.g., decay of excited states of atoms or atomic nuclei) in a dense plasma at the transition frequencies ! & !p (where !p is the electron plasma frequency). The decay goes through four channels—the emission of real transverse and longitudinal plasmons as well as the emission of virtual transverse and longitudinal plasmons with subsequent absorpt...

Photon angular distribution in nuclear excitation by electron capture

In the resonant process of nuclear excitation by electron capture (NEEC), a free electron is captured into a bound atomic shell with the simultaneous excitation of the nucleus. NEEC is a process analogous to dielectronic recombination (DR), and when followed by the radiative decay of the nucleus, it is a competing resonant channel of radiative recombination (RR). Partly due to the dominant RR b...
